About the journal

Marianne Caroline is an independent journal about the fashion industry — not just what is on the runway this season, but everything around it: the mills and workshops, the price tags and supply chains, the people who cut, sew, style and sell.

Fashion coverage tends to move at the speed of the feed. A collection is shown, photographed, judged and forgotten inside a week. This journal takes the opposite approach. Each piece is written to still be worth reading a year from now.

What we write about

• Trends, decoded. Not what is in, but why — the economics, moods and cultural currents that make a silhouette suddenly feel right.
• Craft. Tailoring, knitwear, dyeing, pattern cutting: the skills that separate a garment that lasts from one that doesn’t.
• Sustainability, without the slogans. Resale, repair, materials and manufacturing, examined honestly — including where the good intentions fall short.
• The business of fashion. How brands price, produce and grow, explained for people who don’t work in the industry.
• Guides. Practical, plain-language reference pieces you can come back to.

How we work

We don’t accept payment for coverage, and we don’t publish sponsored posts dressed up as editorial. When we mention a brand or a product, it’s because it helps tell the story.

Good clothes are a conversation between the person who made them and the person who wears them. We’re here to listen in.
